Anemone x hybrida ‘Whirlwind’ is a particularly large and elegant Japanese anemone. Best suited to the back of partially shaded flowerbeds, its white, saucer-shaped blooms literally stand out above other plants as they grow on sturdy stems up to 1.2m (4’0″) tall in the late summer. These flowers are complemented by vivid, palmate foliage, which spreads in clumps throughout the season. Best of all, Anemone x hybrida ‘Whirlwind’ is easy to maintain, transforming the garden without the stress that comes with many other hardy perennials. Height: 1.2m (4’0″); Spread: 1m (3’3″).

Choose a sunny or semi shaded position in moist, well drained soil. Anemones prefer a fertile soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. In autumn, cut back any faded flowers and foliage. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Anemones in late Autumn or Spring.
